Results of the PAWS-MED - conference -
pictures and presentations

The Final Conference of the PAWS-med project took place from the 15th-16th September 2011 at the National Park of Circeo in Sabaudia, Italy. The Italian partners organised a conference with about 80 participants from 15 different countries, EU and non-EU, like Argentina and Lebanon.
The Conference was divided into two parts, theoretical as well as practical ones. After some greetings and welcoming speeches by local authorities, two introduction speeches by FAO and UN-ECE representatives were given. The next block was about the presentation of the PAWS-med concept, the implementation and experiences in each partner countries. In the afternoon PAWS-med forest guided tours inside the National Park were offered for the participants. The tours were led by the PAWS-med certified multipliers. Most of the conference participants took the chance to get an impression and to experience the pedagogical activities in the forest. On the second day the keynote speakers gave some presentations of the state of the art of forest pedagogic projects, activities and materials. After the topic discussion a few 5min poster presentations and the pedagogical market place in the entrance hall took place. The conclusions and closing of the conference was given by the Italian organisers. In the afternoon the Italian partners offered an optional guided tour inside the National Park of Circeo for interested participants.

In the framework of the International Year of Forests (IYF) the team of the EU project PAWS-MED organizes an International Conference on forest pedagogic in the Mediterranean region entitled "Forest Pedagogic and Environmental Education - The PAWS-MED experience". It will be held in Italy, in Sabaudia (near Rome) inside the visitors centre of the National Park of Circeo and it will be hosted by the Italian State Forest Service

You are warmly invited to participate in this international event, held in English and aiming to further spread the PAWS-MED concept and the experiences on forest pedagogy and environment education earned in different contexts, Mediterranean and not. It will be composed by international keynote presentations, posters and excursions to implement the PAWS-MED concept in the field and to discover the forest wonders of the Park.
